Offroad Rental Questions

Is there an age limit for driving an offroad vehicle?  For ATVs, there are strict age laws in California and many other states. The California requirements are as follows:

• Ages 13 and under: You must be supervised by a parent/guardian/authorized adult. If the rider has an ATV Safety Certificate, the supervising adult is not required to have one. If the rider does not have an ATV Safety Certificate, the supervising adult MUST have one.
• Ages 14-17: If the rider has an ATV Safety Certificate, he/she may ride without adult supervision. If the rider does not have an ATV Safety Certificate, he/she must be supervised by an authorized adult WITH an ATV Safety Certificate.
• Ages 18 and over: You are not required to have an ATV Safety Certificate, but for the safety of the rider it is recommended.

How can I obtain an ATV Safety Certificate? There are multiple ways you can obtain an ATV Safety Certificate. You can visit the ATV Safety Institute and take their e-course. Once completed, you can take the test and receive a certificate for a $25 fee. As an alternative, you may visit rideATVoregon and complete their online course, then receive an ATV Safety Certificate valid in both Califonia and Oregon at no charge. If you are required to have an ATV Safety Certificate, you must bring it with you when picking up your rental vehicle.

Where can I ride and drive offroad vehicles? You may enjoy the offroad vehicles on any public or private land that allows the use of OHVs. Below is a short list of the popular OHV destinations just a short distance from our headquarters:

• Ocotillo Wells
• Glamis or Imperial Sand Dunes
• Superstition Mountain
• Pismo Dunes or Oceano Dunes
• Hungry Valley
• Heber Dunes
• Silverwood Lake

What kind of clothing or safety equipment do I need to wear? We provide DOT-certified helmets. At a minimum, you will need goggles, long pants, long-sleeve shirt and shoes with ankle support. It is highly recommended you wear a chest protector, boots designed for offroad use, gloves and offroad-specific pants and jersey.

Which package should I choose? If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call and we will assist you in choosing a package that best fits your needs.

What is required to make a reservation? To make a reservation, simply choose your desired package, give us a call, choose your dates and pay the reservation deposit. The reservation deposit is first rental day for all rental vehicle(s). The reservation deposit is applied to the rental fee at time of pickup. Any reservations within 7 days of the rental will require the rental fee to be paid in full at time of reservation. We also require the rental fee to be paid in full to make a reservation for a holiday weekend.

Will I need to provide a security deposit? Yes. We require a security deposit for each rental vehicle. The security deposit will be taken at the time of pick up and can be paid by Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express or cash. Checks of any kind will not be accepted. Security deposits will be refunded AFTER vehicles have been inspected by our technicians. Required deposit amounts are as follows:

• All ATVs $500
• All Dirt Bikes $500

How will my security deposit be refunded? If security deposit was paid in cash, it will be refunded in cash or check. If it was paid by credit card, we will refund the deposit back to the card. It may take 3-5 business days for the funds to become available, this depends on your bank and is beyond our control. Please plan accordingly.

What happens if I damaged the vehicle? If you damage the vehicle in any way, you will be held responsible to pay for the repairs. We will put together an estimate for the repairs and payment in full, minus security deposit, will be required upon notice. If the repairs do not exceed the security deposit, the difference will be refunded back to you.

Do you offer rental insurance? At this time, we are unable to offer any kind of insurance for off-road rental vehicles. If you are able to get a rental policy on your own and need any information from us, feel free to give us a call and we will help in any way we can.

Do you offer discounted weekly rates? Yes, we gladly offer discounted pricing to rentals of 5 or more consecutive days. Please give us a call to recieve your specialized pricing.

Is fuel included with the rental? No. During the vehicle inspection we will mark fuel level at the time of pickup, we expect the vehicle to be returned at that level. If returned lower, we will charge the difference at $5.00 per gallon of gasoline.
